Walk into any beauty store, scroll through Instagram or browse online for anti-ageing skincare and you’ll see the same promises repeated over and over again.

“Boosts collagen.”

“Turns back the clock.”

“Reduces wrinkles.”

“Clinically proven.”

Collagen has become one of the most powerful words in beauty marketing. Brands know that consumers associate collagen with youthful skin, firmness and fewer wrinkles. As a result, the market has become saturated with products claiming to stimulate collagen production, rebuild the skin or even replace lost collagen.

But how many of those claims are actually supported by science?

As someone who has studied Molecular Genetics and spent years working in regenerative aesthetics, I’ve dedicated my career to asking questions that many skincare companies never answer.

How does this ingredient actually work?

Can it realistically reach its target?

Is there genuine evidence behind the marketing?

These are the questions that ultimately led me to create my own skincare range.

Why I Became Frustrated with the Beauty Industry

I didn’t create skincare because I wanted another business.

I created it because I was becoming increasingly frustrated with what I saw every single day.

I’ve seen countless clients arrive with cupboards full of expensive creams.

Luxury products costing hundreds of pounds.

Bold claims.

Beautiful packaging.

Very little explanation.

Many products are marketed using scientific language that sounds impressive but gives consumers very little understanding of whether a product is actually likely to achieve what it promises.

As clinicians, we have a responsibility to separate marketing from medicine.

That responsibility became even more apparent after reading an article published by British Beauty Review entitled:

“127 Collagen Products Tested in a UK Lab. Only 5 Actually Increased Collagen.”

According to the publication, independent laboratory testing reported that many collagen products failed to demonstrate the collagen-increasing effects suggested by their marketing, while only a small number showed measurable activity under the testing conditions described.

Whether future research confirms or challenges every aspect of those findings, the article highlights an issue that deserves far more discussion.

Consumers deserve transparency.

They deserve to understand what they’re buying.

They deserve honest conversations about what skincare can achieve—and what it cannot.

What Is Collagen?

Collagen is the most abundant structural protein in the human body.

It provides strength, structure and support to the skin, helping maintain firmness, elasticity and resilience.

From our mid-twenties onwards, our natural collagen production begins to decline. Every year, that process continues, contributing to the visible signs of ageing.

Environmental factors such as ultraviolet radiation, pollution, smoking, poor nutrition, chronic inflammation, stress and oxidative damage can accelerate this process even further.

The result is something every one of us eventually notices:

* Fine lines
* Wrinkles
* Skin laxity
* Loss of firmness
* Thinning skin
* Reduced elasticity

This is why collagen has become the centre of the anti-ageing industry.

Unfortunately, it has also become one of its most overused marketing terms.

Can Collagen Skincare Actually Work?

The honest answer is…

It depends.

Not all skincare products are created equally.

Some ingredients have strong scientific evidence supporting their use.

Others rely far more on marketing than meaningful research.

The reality is that simply adding collagen to a cream doesn’t automatically mean your skin can absorb it in a way that stimulates your own collagen production.

Our skin is an incredibly intelligent organ.

One of its primary roles is to act as a protective barrier, preventing large molecules from penetrating deeply into the skin.

That’s why skincare isn’t simply about what’s written on the front of the bottle.

It’s about the science behind the formulation.

Ingredient stability matters.

Concentration matters.

Delivery systems matter.

The interaction between ingredients matters.

Most importantly…

Science matters.

And that’s exactly why I refused to create skincare based purely on trends.

Why I Created the EQLIBRIUM Skincare Collection

Every product we developed began with one simple question.

Would I confidently recommend this to my own family?

If the answer wasn’t yes…

We went back to the drawing board.

I didn’t want products that simply looked luxurious.

I wanted products that reflected the same clinical standards we apply every day within EQLIBRIUM Clinic.

Products that complement professional treatments.

Products that support healthy skin function.

Products formulated with carefully selected ingredients because they make scientific sense—not because they happen to be trending on social media.

For me, skincare shouldn’t be about chasing the latest fad.

It should be about giving your skin exactly what it needs to function at its best.

Skin Health Doesn’t Start and End with a Cream

One of the biggest misconceptions in aesthetics is that skincare alone can solve every skin concern.

Healthy skin is influenced by:

* Genetics
* Nutrition
* Hormones
* Sleep
* UV exposure
* Inflammation
* Stress
* Lifestyle
* Professional treatments
* Daily skincare

That’s why we take a comprehensive approach to skin health.

Alongside our skincare collection, we also introduced Collagen Push Fusion™, combining intravenous collagen with high-dose vitamin C as part of our regenerative treatment portfolio.

Rather than relying on one product to do everything, we believe in supporting the skin from multiple angles through personalised treatment plans designed around each client.

Because real skin rejuvenation isn’t about one miracle ingredient.

It’s about combining science, lifestyle, professional treatments and high-quality skincare to achieve healthier skin over time.

Why Trust Matters More Than Marketing

Today’s consumers are more informed than ever before.

People no longer want empty promises.

They want honesty.

They want transparency.

They want practitioners who are prepared to say:

“This works.”

“This may help.”

“There isn’t enough evidence yet.”

That’s exactly how we practise at EQLIBRIUM.

Because trust takes years to build.

And only seconds to lose.

Our Promise

We will never formulate products simply because they’re fashionable.

We will never make claims we cannot stand behind.

We will never compromise science for sales.

We will continue to question.

To research.

To innovate.

To educate.

Because that’s what science demands.

And that’s what our clients deserve.

At EQLIBRIUM, we believe that beautiful skin begins with understanding the biology behind it—not believing every marketing promise printed on a label.

Our mission has always been simple: to bridge the gap between science and skincare, giving our clients access to formulations and treatments that are thoughtfully developed, evidence-informed and clinically led.

Because your skin deserves more than hope.

It deserves honesty.

It deserves integrity.

It deserves science.

And that’s exactly what EQLIBRIUM was built on.
