Microneedling

Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure using tiny needles to create micro tears in the skin triggering a wound healing response that creates collagen and elastin. Microneedling can be used anywhere on the body and face to treat and reduce the appearance of skin concerns such as

  • Enlarged pores.
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Loose, dull or crepey skin.
  • scarring
  • Pigmentation or uneven skin tone.
  • Stretch marks
  • Hair loss

Performed using a handheld pen-shaped device, electrically powered, with tiny needles that make precise, microscopic punctures in the skin. These “micro-injuries” do not leave scars; they work by helping to stimulate the skin to repair itself naturally through a process called dermal remodeling.

The process of microneedling is relatively pain-free. However, it is possible for some to find the microneedling process uncomfortable so can offer a numbing cream if sensitive.

After you have a microneedling procedure, some side effects are to be expected. When you leave your appointment, your skin may be flushed or bright red, as if you have spent the entire day out in the sun and have mild to moderate sunburn.

The redness and swelling will most likely persist for 24 hours or slightly longer. Even with careful aftercare, there isn’t much you can do to get rid of the redness immediately after microneedling.

Covering up the redness with makeup is one of the worst things you can do, as the makeup will block the pores on your newly exposed skin and might even cause breakouts. You’ll need to have some patience as the redness subsides, but in the meantime, you can apply gentle, unscented products with natural ingredients to get some relief.

Swelling and some skin peeling are all considered to be within the realm of normal up to 48 hours after the procedure. Other side effects, like bumps, breakouts, and dry skin, are also within the scope of what you may experience after microneedling, but not everyone will experience them.

Taking care of your skin with moisturizer and gentle cleansers can make your side effects as minimal as possible.

  • dull skin
  • fine lines
  • scarring
  • acne scarring (pitted and raised)
  • pigmentation
  • stretch marks
  • hair loss
  • enlarged pores
  • textured skin
  • sun damage

Microneedling provides targeted revitalisation and collagen back into the skin, reducing wrinkles, pigmentation, texture and scarring.  Also known as Collagen induction therapy, a treatment that is designed to promote skin rejuvenation. Our device uses  between 6-24 super-tiny needles, which can be adjusted for your specific skin needs between 0.25 and 2.5 millimeters. The smallest setting — 0.25 millimeters — penetrates the stratum cornea, or the superficial layer of skin. These micro punctures trigger the healing response in the skin collagen and thickening the skin, so instead of looking good for a few days after your traditional facial, your skin is smooth and radiant for much longer.

Microneedling involves using a handheld device to create hundreds of microscopic needle impressions in the skin on the face or body. As the treatment pen is passed over the face, it creates microinjuries and prompts the derma, a deeper layer of skin, to mount a healing response, delivering a natural collagen boost. The tiny channels in the skin made by the needles also allows for deeper absorption of topical treatments after treatment.

Your needs and objectives will be discussed during your consultation and registration. An appropriate treatment plan will be developed and agreed with you and your plan will be monitored and adjusted in line with your progress. Once your treatment cycle has concluded, periodic treatments may be encouraged going forward.
